Scholarships

Baird Holm established two $5,000 scholarships which are awarded annually to students at the University of Nebraska College of Law and Creighton University College of Law. The purpose of each of these scholarships is to encourage and enable first-year law students from diverse backgrounds to attend law schools in Nebraska. Baird Holm also provides for one student at the University of Nebraska at Omaha to prepare and take the LSAT exam. These scholarships target admitted students who have financial need and who are from educationally and culturally disadvantaged backgrounds.

Baird Holm congratulates the 2009 - 2010 scholarship recipients.

Eugene McCrann

Eugene McCrann moved to Nebraska City, Nebraska, when he was five years old after growing up in Illinois and Japan.  He attended New York University where he was president of his fraternity and collaborated on films that were featured in NYU’s student film showcase. He graduated with honors in 2008 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, with a focus in Film & Television. Following graduation, he remained in New York City, working on film sets and as a legal recruiter. This experience made Eugene realize that law school would be the perfect opportunity to combine his two passions, writing and film. Eugene has an interest in Entertainment Law and looks forward to moving to Los Angeles, California after graduation and working as an agent or attorney in the entertainment industry.

Louvontree Hunter

Louvontree Hunter is a native of Nebraska. He grew up in Talmage and graduated from Nemaha Valley High School in 2003. He attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and majored in criminal justice. Louvontree chose criminal justice because it would help put him in a position to help others and positively affect people’s lives. He also felt this major would prepare him for the pursuit of his law degree after graduation. Louvontree entered law school with the intent to practice civil rights law or as a criminal litigator. However, since classes started, he has found many different areas of law that are of interest to him. He is currently a member of the Student Bar Association along with the Black Law Students Association. Regardless of the practice area he chooses, Louvontree hopes to remain in Nebraska following graduation.
