Kirk S. Blecha was conferred a Juris Doctor, with distinction, from the University of Nebraska College of Law in 1974. During law school, he was inducted into the Order of the Coif and served as Associate Editor of the Nebraska Law Review in 1973 and 1974. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1970.

Mr. Blecha is listed in The Best Lawyers in America 2009 (©2009 Woodward/White Inc.) for his work in Commercial Litigation. He is also listed in Great Plains Super Lawyers and Chambers USA, America's Leading Lawyers for Business (Chambers & Partners Publishing 2007-2008).

From 1974 to 1976 Mr. Blecha served as law clerk to the Honorable William C. Stuart, United States District Judge for the Southern District of Iowa. He also served as law clerk to the Honorable Paul White, Chief Justice, Nebraska Supreme Court in 1973 and 1974.

Mr. Blecha is active in the Nebraska State Bar Association, serving on several committees concerning mentoring and bar association services. He speaks to bar and industry groups on a wide variety of litigation subjects, including discovery, document retention and destruction, and employment litigation.

  • Successfully defended health care provider charged with improperly billing Medicaid over $200,000

  • Successfully defended manufacturer in federal jury trial against claim of breach of contract in sale of manufactured housing
  • Settled state class action for defendant charged with breach of warranty in sale of hardboard siding
  • Settled federal class action for defendant charged with racial discrimination and fraud in sale of product
  • Successfully represented architect in arbitration involving break up of closely-held corporation
  • Successful trials and appeals in broad range of business and commercial litigation, including covenants not to compete, wrongful termination, choice of forum, and workers' compensation cases
