Steven C. Turner is the Chair of the Financial Transactions Section and the Bankruptcy and Financial Dispute Resolution Group of the firm. He practices primarily in the areas of commercial and agricultural financing transactions, bankruptcy/workouts and insolvency matters, banking and the Uniform Commercial Code.
Mr. Turner is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and served on its Board of Directors and is Past Chair of its UCC Committee. He is a member of the Nebraska State Bar Association, the American Bar Association (ABA) and the ABA’s Uniform Commercial Code Committee, Commercial Financial Services Committee, Subcommittee on Agricultural and Agri Business Finance (Former Chairperson from 1987 to 1994) and Task Force on Revision to Article 9 of the UCC Relating to Agricultural Financing (Chair). Mr. Turner is a Fellow in the American College of Bankruptcy.
Mr. Turner is included on the 2009 Great Plains Super Lawyers list for his work in Banking Law. He has also been listed in The Best Lawyers in America for the past twenty years and is listed in Chambers USA, America’s Leading Lawyers for Business (Chambers & Partners Publishing 2008-2009) for his work in financial transactions. In 2009, Mr. Turner was designated by Best Lawyers in America as the Banking Law Lawyer of the Year in Nebraska.
From 1985 to 1990, Mr. Turner was an Adjunct Professor of Law of Bankruptcy and Reorganization for Creighton University School of Law. He has served as an instructor for the American Bankers Association School for Agricultural Bankers and was a member of the Iowa State University Czech Republic Task Force in 1993. In 2001, he led a team which consulted the government of Thailand on the development of commercial finance laws. Mr. Turner frequently lectures on bankruptcy, financing and banking, loan documentation and Uniform Commercial Code issues. He is the author of various articles that have appeared in local, regional and national publications, including the Creighton Law Review, the Oklahoma Law Review, the Journal of Agricultural Lending, the Journal of Agricultural Taxation & Law and various sections of Collier Bankruptcy Practice Guide.
