James T. Schmidt is a member of the firm’s Finance & Creditors’ Rights section, where he concentrates his practice on bankruptcy, in and out of court restructurings, creditor enforcement and collection remedies, and related commercial litigation. He has experience representing diverse groups of creditors in both state court and federal court working creatively and efficiently to achieve his clients’ objectives and maximize their recoveries. James has successfully assisted in enforcing loan agreements to recover collateral including vehicles, real property, agricultural equipment, and aircraft. He also has experience representing both secured and unsecured creditors before federal bankruptcy courts.

James spent more than a year working in Baird Holm’s Omaha office and continues to be an integral member of the firm’s Creditors’ Rights team located there. Beginning August 2024, James is working for the firm remotely from the Kansas City metropolitan area, where he frequently handles firm matters in Kansas and Missouri courts.
