Nebraska’s Annual Wind and Solar Conference is on October 29–30, 2014, at the La Vista Conference Center

The 7th Annual Nebraska Wind and Solar Conference & Exhibition: Turning Challenges into Nebraska Opportunities will be on October 29–30, 2014, at the Embassy Suites Omaha-La Vista Conference Center. Baird Holm is a major sponsor of the event, and at 1:10 p.m. on Thursday, October 30, Baird Holm’s David Levy will moderate a panel of Nebraska’s candidates for the U.S. Senate (Dave Domina, Jim Jenkins, and Todd Watson, but not Ben Sasse, who declined an invitation to attend). Nebraska’s gubernatorial candidates (Chuck Hassebrook and Mark Elworth, Jr., but not Pete Ricketts, who declined an invitation to attend) will speak on Wednesday, October 29, at 3 p.m.

Tom Kiernan, CEO of the American Wind Energy Association, will open the conference on the morning of October 29. Mr. Kiernan served as the Deputy Assistant Administrator for the EPA, where he was instrumental in implementing the 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments.

The luncheon speaker on October 29 is Dr. Karen Wayland, Deputy Director for State and Local Cooperation at the U.S. Department of Energy. In her role as Senior Advisor to former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Dr. Wayland worked on comprehensive climate legislation and the response to BP’s Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
