Auto-Extension of Form I-9

on Friday, 22 April 2016 in Labor & Employment Law Update: Sarah M. Huyck, Editor

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (“USCIS”) announced that employers should continue to use the current version of the Form I-9, even though the Form expired March 31, 2016. The USCIS has been working on a revised Form and recently re-opened the comment process. The public may provide comments on the proposed changes until April 27, 2016. To view the proposed form and submit a comment, go to https://www.regulations.gov/. Until further notice, the current Form remains the proper version to use. We will send an update as soon as the new Form is approved.
