Memory Care Endorsements and Sales Tax Exemptions to Support Nebraska’s Health Care System

on Monday, 8 February 2016 in Dirt Alert: David C. Levy, Editor

Legislative Bills 708 (Bolz), 774 (Scheer), and 1088 (Davis) relate to the health care needs of Nebraska.

LB 708 allows health-care facilities providing memory care to include on their license a “memory care” endorsement, after applying and meeting certain qualifications. The bill requires the Department of Health and Human Services to examine the payment rates for memory care and to consider whether a higher reimbursement rate is necessary.

LB 774 provides a sales and use tax exemption for purchases by nonprofit centers treating substance abuse. Currently, religious, educational, and other medical nonprofit organizations receive such an exemption.

LB 1088 provides a sales and use tax exemption for nonprofit independent living facilities.
