OIG Issues Fraud Alert Warning of Scam

on Tuesday, 5 November 2019 in Health Law Alert: Erin E. Busch, Editor

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Inspector General (OIG) issued a short fraud alert to individuals and facilities warning of a new scam. HHS OIG has been impersonated by scammers who represent themselves as HHS OIG representatives in an attempt to collect personal information from individuals. The scammers are even “spoofing” HHS OIG phone numbers to appear legitimate. HHS OIG encourages vigilance in individuals’ protection of their personal data.
