on Monday, 18 January 2016 in Dirt Alert: David C. Levy, Editor

The Second Session of 104th Nebraska Legislature convened on January 6, 2016. Here is a list of the bills we are tracking and their current status.

This Dirt Alert provides an update on the bills introduced during the first five days of the legislative session that we are tracking related to economic development, municipal law, real estate, renewable energy, and taxation. In addition to the bills the Legislature is introducing this year, we continue tracking legislation carried-over from the 2015 legislative session. We will publish another Dirt Alert next week following the last five days of bill introduction.

Of note, the Legislature continues to focus, and Baird Holm is actively engaged in, efforts modify Tax Increment Financing (LR 394CA, and LR 399CA), the use of local tax revenues (known as LB 840 funds), and state tax credits to facilitate economic development throughout the state (LB 719, LB 808, LB 860, LB 888, LB 907).

Additionally, Baird Holm continues to lead efforts in the Legislature to enhance renewable energy generation and improve and support the electric industry in the state (LB 736, LB 824, LB 863, LB 881, and LB 897).

You can find copies of the bills and information regarding status of the bills on the Nebraska Legislature’s website at http://www.nebraskalegislature.gov/bills/.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have questions about these bills or any others. Thank you.
