EEO-1 Collection to Open April 26, 2021

on Tuesday, 20 April 2021 in Labor & Employment Law Update: Sarah M. Huyck, Editor

The EEOC recently announced that the 2019 and 2020 EEO-1 Component 1 Data Collection will open on April 26, 2021.

If you recall, the 2019 EEO-1 Component 1 Report was delayed last year because of the COVID-19 public health emergency. For this reason, employers will be required to submit both the 2019 and 2020 reports by the deadline, which is now July 19, 2021.

We note too that employers are only required to submit the Component 1 Report (i.e., the basic demographic data that the EEOC has traditionally collected). It does not require employers to submit Component 2 compensation data.

The EEOC states that when the collection opens, resources to assist filers with their submissions will be available at EEOCdata.org, which is the new dedicated website for the EEOC’s data collections. Employers should receive notification emails and a letter closer to when the data collection opens, so keep an eye out for them.

In the meantime, employers should begin gathering the 2019 and 2020 demographic data to ensure timely compliance with their filing obligations.
